Map For Us for teams
Shifts, safety check-ins and hours on site for a small business with people out at sites. Your staff’s locations are encrypted on their phones, so only your team can read them.
Team is not on sale yet. The apps are coming to the App Store and Google Play, and the prices below are the ones we plan to charge.
What it does
A Work tab
Choose Team when you create a circle. People join as workers or contractors, and guests get a visitor pass.
Now
Who is at work, not in yet, needs attention or is off, with your own rules for late and no-show.
Schedule
Weekly and split shifts. Copy one person’s week to others, publish, and see gaps in cover hour by hour.
My shift
Workers check in, take breaks, say they’re running late and ask for changes.
Safety check-ins
Ask people who work alone to check in every 30, 60 or 120 minutes. If one is missed, the phone asks if they’re OK, and sends an SOS when nobody answers within two minutes.
Roll call
Ask everyone “are you OK?”, with an optional meeting point, and see who has answered.
Hours
Time at sites, site visits and estimated mileage as CSV files, and a client visit report for each site.
Verified visits
A phone signs a receipt of a visit, with where it happened, that anyone can check in a browser with no account.
Everything else
Every family feature too: the live map, chat, SOS, places, drives and the web app.
Who it is for
Businesses with up to 10 people out at sites: care staff, cleaners, couriers, field engineers, shops and security teams. Setup has a starting point for each of these.
Privacy for your staff
- Each person joins from your invite, on their own phone, and allows location there themselves.
- They see what you see: My shift shows each worker “What your manager sees”, the same status, hours and late or no-show flags.
- On shift, as in any circle, the team sees each person on the live map and can open their day and their drives, with route, speed and phone use.
- Outside the shifts you publish, a worker’s phone stops sharing continuously. Arrivals at saved places, check-ins and an SOS still go, and one position goes when someone uses Ask where or Refresh, unless the worker sets Location requests to Ask me first or Never. Shifts that add sharing wait 24 hours.
- Safety check-ins are a request. Nothing changes on a worker’s phone until they turn them on.
- There is no selfie or photo clock-in, and nothing reports when someone opens the app or turns location off. The map only shows how old each position is.
- Anyone can pause sharing or leave the team at any time, and nobody can stop them.
- We can’t read any of it: positions, sites, names and shifts are encrypted on the phones.
Prices
| Seats | Monthly | Yearly |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | ₹597 · US$18 | ₹5,997 · US$180 |
| 5 | ₹995 · US$30 | ₹9,995 · US$300 |
| 10 | ₹1,990 · US$60 | ₹19,990 · US$600 |
That is ₹199 or US$6 a seat a month, or ₹1,999 or US$60 a year. Elsewhere: £5, €6, A$9, C$8 or S$8 a seat a month, and £50, €60, A$90, C$80 or S$80 a year. Prices don’t include tax.
Monthly or yearly, renewing until you cancel, with no free trial. You’ll buy it in the app, through the App Store or Google Play. The circle’s owner pays and everyone in it is covered; seats count the owner, and a visitor pass while it lasts. Each person gets 20 GB for photos, voice notes and files, and our server keeps up to two years of encrypted history.
How to start
- Install Map For Us on your phone once it is in the App Store or Google Play.
- Buy Team in You → Account & security → Plan, and create a circle set to Team.
- Invite your staff with a link, a QR code or a code. Each person installs the app and joins.
- Add your sites and set shifts. Ask for safety check-ins if people work alone.
Limits
- Hours are time on site from each phone’s location, not hours worked, and mileage is an estimate. This is not a payroll system.
- Alerts are best-effort. A missed check-in only escalates while the worker’s app is running, and a roll call’s “No answer” can mean no signal.
- Some phones stop apps in the background, so a phone can go quiet. The map says how long ago each phone last updated.
- A shift applies to the worker’s whole phone, so off-shift hours are held back from their family circles too.
- Staff need a phone to share their location. A browser shares only while its tab is open, and doesn’t follow shifts.
- One person, the circle’s owner, runs Now, Schedule and Hours. There is no second manager role.
- Someone you remove keeps what they already saw.
- It is not an emergency service. If someone is in danger, call 112 in India or your local emergency number.
Your obligations as an employer
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, your business is the data fiduciary for your staff’s data: you decide why and how it is used.
- Decide your lawful basis with a lawyer. The Act allows consent or certain legitimate uses, including employment. Consent from staff is weak, because they may not feel free to refuse.
- Before anyone joins, give them a notice that names your business and says what is shared, when and why.
- Answer staff requests to see, correct or erase their data. The readable copy is on your team’s phones, not on our server.
- Decide how long you keep records. CSV files you export are outside the app, so deleting them is up to you.
- Report a personal data breach to the Data Protection Board of India and to each person affected.
